CANTON, OH: The wind, cold, and snow didn't stop the Walsh Baseball team from taking care of business in a midweek contest against their rival, the Malone Pioneers. With a split series already scheduled and tough weather conditions, the Cavs only played one, nine inning game. The series is planned to continue on April 9th. 

A strong, six run, top of the second was all the Maroon and Gold needed to secure the victory. Strong defense was also key as Freshman, Martin Polonkay, went six innings scattering four hits. He also struck out two in his first collegiate win. Five Cavs had two or more hits in the victory. 

The team will hit the road this weekend for a four game series against new conference opponent, Thomas More University. The Saturday doubleheader is set for 2 and 6pm followed by a Sunday doubleheader, starting at 12pm.

FOR THE CAVS 

• Center fielder, Mason Stoldt had two doubles on two hits and had two RBI's. 
• The top of the Cavalier lineup was dominant at the plate. Brodey Acres, Cam Hollobaugh, and Benny Hymes IV each had two hits and added an RBI each. Brady Maciak and Jax Miller each added a hit each. 
• Shea Simmer was 2-3 at the plate. 
• Martin Polonkay earned the win, striking out two and only allowing four hits in six innings. 
• In relief, Eric Bennett, Brandon Cahill, and Zach Thompson kept the Pioneers at bay.
