WASHINGTON, PA: Coming off a conference series win over the weekend, the Cavaliers traveled to Washington, PA to take on a non-conference opponent before the Easter break. The Maroon and Gold faced a strong California University of Pennsylvania team who entered the game at 14-4. In a strong, Atlantic Region face off, Walsh struck first scoring 2 runs in the top of the 2nd and led halfway through the game, 3-1. The Vulcans came to life in the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings outscoring the Cavs, 5-1.
On the mound for Walsh was freshman,
Martin Polonkay who went 5 strong innings, striking out three and allowing no walks. In relief was
Owen Canter,
Todd Bangtson, and
Brandon Cahill. The Cavalier pitching staff only walked one batter in the game.
Walsh will return to Biery Stadium on Tuesday, April 2nd for another non-conference game against Wheeling University. First pitch is set for 3pm.
