CANTON, OH: The Walsh Softball team took the short trip to Malone to take on the rival Pioneers in a double header on Wednesday. They would end up dropping both games on the day by score of 4-1 and 11-6. This moves them to 1-3 in the G-MAC with many games still to play.
In game 1, Malone jumped out to the lead, scoring all four of their runs in the 3
rd inning. Walsh tried to mount a comeback but could only produce one run in the 4
th inning. The Cavalier offense was held in check, coming away with just 3 hits for the game and scoring their only run on a throwing error.
In game 2, the Cavs struck first after
McKenna Voiers doubled to center field to give Walsh a 1-0 lead. After the Pioneers scored 2 runs to answer, Walsh regained the lead with a 5-run 5
th inning.
Kaylee Nolte hit a 3-run homerun during the inning to give the Cavs the momentum. Nine runs from the Pioneers in the 5
th and 6
th innings would ultimately be too much to overcome as Malone would win Game 2.Â
Walsh will be back in action on Tuesday, April 2
nd as they travel to South Euclid to take on Notre Dame College in a double header. The games will be at 3 PM and 5 PM.
