Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

SURVIVE AND ADVANCE: MEN'S BASKETBALL PULLS OUT QUARTERFINAL WIN

NORTH CANTON, OH: Earlier in the day, the #1 seed, Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers, were defeated on their home court in dominating fashion. Through the first eight minutes of tonight's G-MAC Quarterfinal, it looked like the #2 seeded, Walsh Cavaliers, were on the same path, to be upset. Zack Oddo had different plans as the sophomore single handedly kept the Cavs in the game in through one half.

The Cavs defeated Trevecca Nazarene, 66-64, in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Quarterfinal game this evening. The first half was all Trevecca as they outscored Walsh, 12-0, in the first four minutes of play. Halfway through the first 20 minutes, the Maroon and Gold finally found their groove and slowly worked their way back into the game. A three from Zack Oddo got the Cavs within two, at the buzzer, heading into the break.

At the 17:47 mark of the second half, Walsh finally took their first lead of the night thanks to a Garrison Keeslar three. The beginning of the half was all Walsh as they went on an 8-0 run to help build their 15 point lead with 9:28 to go.

Trevecca was not going away easy as freshman standout, Tommy Gankhuyag, scored six quick points, getting the Trojan's back in the game. With a six point lead with 1:16 to play, everyone in Alumni Arena learned why you play to the final buzzer. After a series of jump balls in the back court, Trevecca hit a three to tie it up at 64 a piece. Keeslar, who battled all night, including drawing three charges, connected on a driving layup to give the Cavs the lead which quickly was the difference maker to secure the win for Walsh.

March tournament basketball will continue Friday in Alumni Arena as the Cavs are the highest remaining seed in the G-MAC Tournament. They will host #3 Cedarville at 5pm for a semifinal match up. Following Game 1 on Friday, #8 Tiffin will play #4 Thomas More. The Championship game is set for Saturday at 3pm.
