NORTH CANTON, OH: The Cavaliers hosted an important Great Midwest Women's Lacrosse contest on Larry Staudt Field last night against the Ashland Eagles. Both teams entered the game at 4-0 in the conference. Ultimately, the winner would earn the number one seed in the conference tournament, which begins later this month. In a physical match up, the Maroon and Gold outscored the Eagles in each quarter on their way to victory. At the 11:40 mark of the 4th quarter, a storm rolled into Stark County, delaying the game for over an hour. Coming out of the delay, Ashland found the back of the goal, cutting the deficit to 6 but 2 more Walsh goals helped secure the conference win.
With 2 conference games remaining, Walsh is in first place in the G-MAC with a perfect 5-0 record. They will travel to Grand Valley State on Friday to face the Lakers in a tough regional contest.
