CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY - The Walsh University Cavaliers faced a tough challenge against Thomas More University on Saturday night, falling to the Saints with a final score of 44-21. Despite a promising start, the Cavaliers struggled to keep pace as the game progressed. Walsh's offense began with some momentum, tying the game at 7-7 in the first quarter. Quarterback
Dalys Jett completed 7 of 14 passes for 144 yards and a touchdown, showcasing his ability to connect with receivers. His standout moment came late in the game when he found
Garrett Waite for a 64-yard touchdown pass, bringing some excitement back to the Cavaliers' sideline.
The ground game, however, was less effective overall. Jett led the rushing attack with 37 yards and a touchdown on 9 carries, but as a team, Walsh managed only 56 net rushing yards. This lack of production on the ground hindered their ability to sustain drives against Thomas More's defense.
Defensively, Walsh had its moments but struggled to contain Vaden and the Saints' explosive offense. The Cavaliers allowed 271 passing yards and three touchdowns while failing to force any turnovers.
Cam Hollobaugh stood out defensively with 14 total tackles, but it wasn't enough to turn the tide. By halftime, Walsh trailed 21-14 and could not find their rhythm in the second half, getting outscored 23-7.
The loss drops the Cavaliers to a record of 2-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Walsh will look to regroup and bounce back next week when they face off against Lake Erie College on October 5th, at Larry Staudt Field. The game is set to kick off at 12:00 PM as part of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference schedule.
