ASHLAND HANDS WALSH ANOTHER TOUGH LOSS

ASHLAND, OH - The Walsh University Cavaliers suffered another setback, falling 80-61 to the Ashland University Eagles in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference clash at Charles Kates Gym on January 9th. This loss dropped Walsh's record to 5-7 overall and 1-5 in conference play, while Ashland improved to 8-6 overall and 4-3 in the G-MAC.

The Cavaliers kept it close in the first half, trailing 35-30 at halftime. However, the Eagles dominated the second half, outscoring Walsh 45-31 to secure the victory.

Kobe Mitchell led the way for Walsh with 18 points, shooting 6-of-15 from the field including 4-of-12 from beyond the arc. Ayden Carter contributed 15 points and 7 rebounds, while Zack Oddo added 8 points and 6 rebounds.

Ashland's Maceo Williams was the standout performer with 24 points on an efficient 12-of-13 shooting, along with 14 rebounds. Cooper Davis also had an impressive night, scoring 23 points including six 3-pointers.

Walsh struggled from the field, shooting just 35.4% overall and 27.0% from three-point range. Despite matching Ashland in rebounds (33-36), the Cavaliers couldn't overcome the Eagles' hot shooting (56.7% FG, 41.7% 3PT).

With this loss, Walsh will need to regroup as they continue their conference schedule. The Cavaliers will look to bounce back in their next game at home on Saturday against KWC.
