OWENSBORO, KY - The Walsh University Cavaliers suffered a heartbreaking 66-61 loss to the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference matchup at the Owensboro Sportscenter on January 4th. This defeat dropped Walsh's record to 5-6 overall and 1-4 in conference play, while Kentucky Wesleyan improved to 10-2 overall and 4-0 in the G-MAC.
The Cavaliers started strong, taking a 29-20 lead into halftime. However, the Panthers mounted a fierce comeback in the second half, outscoring Walsh 46-32 to secure the victory.
Ayden Carter led the way for Walsh with an impressive 28 points, shooting 12-of-24 from the field and grabbing 6 rebounds.
Kobe Mitchell contributed 17 points and 8 rebounds, while
Zack Oddo added 10 points and 7 rebounds.
Kentucky Wesleyan's Kennedy Miles was the top performer for the Panthers with 16 points and 7 assists. Edward Jones Jr. and Fatih Huyuk also made significant contributions, scoring 13 and 12 points respectively.
Walsh struggled from beyond the arc, making only 2 of 17 three-point attempts. Despite outrebounding the Panthers 36-36, the Cavaliers couldn't maintain their first-half momentum.
