SLIPPERY ROCK, PA: Walsh Women's Basketball wrapped up Thanksgiving weekend on the road Sunday afternoon, defeating Slippery Rock, in overtime, 67-61.
The Cavs had to overcome a slow start, falling behind 17-6 early in the first quarter. Walsh responded with an 11-2 run to cut the deficit to two and carried that momentum into the rest of the half, trailing just 30-25 at the break.
Both teams traded baskets throughout the second half, with Walsh continuing to chip away before tying the game late in the fourth. Strong defense down the stretch sent the contest into overtime, where the Maroon & Gold took control. Walsh outscored Slippery Rock 9-3 in the extra period to seal the road win. In the extra time, key buckets by Sydney Ludvigsen, Carlota Lopez, and Sami Kim gave Walsh the edge.
The Cavs shot just 37% from the field but shot 75% on free throws.
