Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL BEGINS G-MAC PLAY 2-0

PAINESVILLE AND NORTH CANTON, OH: The opening of Great Midwest play has been nothing but positive for the Walsh Women's Basketball program as they have cruised to two dominant victories. Thursday night, the Cavs defeated the Lake Erie Storm and on Saturday, they beat Ohio Dominican. With the victories, Walsh moves to 6-2 on the young season.

In Painesville, the Cavs had a slow start to the first half, struggling to find a rhythm offensively as Lake Erie hung around early. Despite a slow start, Walsh began to steady themselves with a few key defensive stops and went on a run to take a small lead into the break.

To start the 2nd half, Walsh came out strong with high energy and turned up the intensity. Walsh pushed the pace, forced turnover, and turned stops into points, taking a significant lead going into the fourth. From there, the Cavs maintained their momentum, closing out the game with balanced scoring all around and a strong defensive effort to secure their first conference win of the season.

On Saturday, vs the Ohio Dominican Panthers, the Walsh Cavaliers returned home to earn  a 66–52 win in Alumni Arena. The Cavs played with high energy defensively and took control right away, holding Ohio Dominican to just 10 points in the first while building an early advantage.

Both teams traded baskets in the second quarter as the pace evened out, but Walsh maintained control and headed into halftime with a 33–25 lead. The second half was all Maroon and Gold as the Cavs scored 21 points in the third to take control. The main difference in the contest was points off turnovers as the Cav pressure scored 27 points off turnovers to ODU's 19.

The Women will be back in action at home, Thursday, December 11th against another conference opponent, facing Findlay at 5pm.
