NORTH CANTON, OH: In a challenging start to their season, the Walsh University Cavaliers Men's Lacrosse team faced off against the 11th ranked team in the country, the Lewis Flyers. Despite the adverse weather conditions, featuring cold temperatures mixed with snow and rain, the game went ahead as planned in what marked the season opener for Walsh.
The Flyers took an early lead, ending the first half with a score of Lewis 8, Walsh 4. By the end of the contest, Lewis had secured a definitive victory with a final score of 14-7. Leading the scoring efforts for the Cavaliers were
AJ Harrison and
Hudson Dennill, both contributing two goals each. Additional goals were scored by
James Sternberg,
Garrett Kessling, and
Winsten Lomax, with Sternberg and Lomax also providing assists along with
Ty Pilkington.
In the net,
Alex Movshin stood as the goalkeeper for Walsh, facing a tough day against a high-scoring Lewis team. Despite the outcome, the Cavaliers demonstrated moments of strong play and will surely look to rebound in their upcoming games. The team remains optimistic as they prepare to host D'Youville on February 19th at 4pm, on Larry Staudt Field, aiming to notch their first win of the season.
