BASEBALL WINS HOME SERIES AGAINST TIFFIN

NORTH CANTON, OH: The Walsh University baseball team hosted Tiffin University for a four-game series at Biery Stadium from March 27-29, 2025. The Cavaliers showed resilience and determination, winning the series 3-1 against the Dragons.

In the series opener on March 27, Walsh secured a 7-3 victory. Brandon Cahill pitched seven strong innings, striking out seven and allowing just two runs. The Cavaliers' offense came alive in the seventh inning when Eli Sutton hit a grand slam to break a 2-2 tie. Brodey Acres added a solo homer in the eighth to seal the win.

Later that day, Tiffin responded with an 11-0 shutout in game two. The Dragons' bats exploded in the fourth and fifth innings, highlighted by Andrew Fairbroth's three-run homer. Tiffin's pitcher Johnathan Ray threw a complete-game shutout, allowing just three hits over seven innings. Despite Walsh's best efforts, they struggled to find rhythm against Ray's dominant performance.

The series continued on March 29 with Walsh taking game three by a score of 9-5. The Cavaliers jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the first inning, thanks to Brandon Hire's three-RBI double. Alex Beyerle earned his first win of the season, pitching six innings and allowing two runs. Tiffin fought back with a late surge, but Walsh maintained control throughout the game.

In the series finale, Walsh dominated with a 12-2 victory. Chris Kramer led the offensive charge with four RBIs, including a solo home run in the seventh inning. Patrick Ciccantelli and Ryan Bruni also contributed home runs. Michael Niro pitched 4.2 innings for the win, while Hunter Hoffman closed out the game with 3.1 scoreless innings.

The Cavs will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to take on Gannon University in Erie, PA. First pitch is set for 3 PM.
