OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION LEADS CAVS TO A SWEEP OF THOMAS MORE

FLORENCE, KY: The Walsh University baseball team traveled to Florence, KY, for a three-game series against Thomas More University on April 7, 2025. The Cavaliers showcased their offensive prowess, sweeping the Saints in dominant fashion.

In the series opener, Walsh secured a commanding 14-3 victory. The Cavaliers jumped out to an early lead with two runs in both the first and second innings, thanks to Cam Hollobaugh's RBI double and Eli Sutton's sacrifice fly. A five-run sixth inning extended their lead, capitalizing on defensive errors by Thomas More. Andrew Morse contributed significantly with four RBIs on five hits. Brandon Cahill pitched seven solid innings for Walsh, allowing just two earned runs while striking out two.

The second game saw Walsh edge out Thomas More 2-1 in a pitcher's duel. Thomas More took an early lead with B. Duncan's solo home run in the third inning. Walsh tied it in the fourth when Patrick Ciccantel scored on a wild pitch, and Ciccantel drove in Brodey Acres with an RBI single in the fifth to secure the win. Alex Beyerle pitched six innings of one-run ball, striking out five to earn the victory.

In the series finale, Walsh dominated again with a 21-9 victory. The Cavaliers started strong with four runs in the first inning, highlighted by Chris Kramer's two-run homer and Cam Hollobaugh's RBI double. After Thomas More briefly took the lead with a five-run second inning, Walsh responded with an eight-run fifth inning, including Brandon Hire's two-RBI double and Brodey Acres scoring on a wild pitch. Hollobaugh capped off the offense with a two-run homer in the sixth. Martin Polonkay earned the win in relief, holding the Saints scoreless over 1.1 innings.

The Cavaliers will return to action this weekend as they host Ohio Dominican University at Biery Stadium in a four game series.
