NORTH CANTON, OH:  Walsh University has announced that it will discontinue its Sprint Football program following the conclusion of the 2024-25 academic year.

The decision comes after careful evaluation of the program's long-term sustainability, competitive performance, and overall impact on the University's athletic offerings. Walsh University joined the newly formed Midwest Sprint Football League (MSFL) in 2023 and completed its second season this fall with an overall record of 1-5.

"This was not an easy decision, but after thoughtful consideration, we believe it is the best course of action," said Vice President for Athletics and Athletic Director Christina Paone. "We remain committed to providing a robust and competitive athletic experience while ensuring that our programs align with the University's mission."

Walsh University will work closely with current Sprint Football athletes to support their academic and athletic transitions, including opportunities within the University's other athletic programs.

Walsh remains dedicated to its broader athletics program and support of more than 750 student-athletes, providing competitive and developmental opportunities across a variety of sports. The University will focus on strengthening existing programs and exploring new opportunities that align with institutional goals.
