ASHLAND AND TIFFIN, OH: It was a split week for the Cavaliers as they suffered their first loss in G-MAC play in a few season and then bounced back in dominating fashion. The loss came to the Ashland Eagles, 19-10 and the win, over the Tiffin Dragons, 25-4.
Against Ashland, Walsh was overpowered when it mattered. Only down 5-2 after the first period, it was all purple from there and they never looked back.
Katie Coomes led the team as she scored 5 of the 10 goals.
On short rest, the Cavs had to bounce back, and did just that at they defeated Tiffin, thoroughly. Up only 2 after a period, Walsh turned up the heat to score 11 2nd period goals to the Dragons 1.
Rachel Black and
Katie Coomes each scored 5 goals while
Jossalyn Welch and
Deanna Loukas scored 4.
Alexa Panetta, 9, and
Mallory Miller, single handedly controlled 16 of the 21 won draw controls on the way to victory.
With 1 regular season game remaining, the Maroon and Gold have an 8-8 record and are 6-1 in conference play! The next game will be on Larry Staudt Field, vs Malone, on Wednesday at 7pm!
