CEDARVILLE, OH: Walsh Cavalier Baseball earned the South Division crown with this past weekends series win over the Cedarville Yellow Jackets. After a 3-17 start to the season, the Maroon and Gold have heated up over the past six weeks, going 17-5 in the G-MAC since March 27th. Key series wins over Thomas More, Malone, Kentucky Wesleyan, and Cedarville helped Walsh earn the South Division.
The first two games of the series were the most important for the Cavs against Cedarville. 10-2 and 3-1 wins clinched the crown for the Cavs and the #2 seed in the G-MAC Tournament. Weather delayed the other two games until May 5th with the Cavs being defeated 5-0 and then bouncing back with a 14-2 victory.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, May 7th, the Maroon and Gold will begin their Great Midwest Tournament Championship campaign at 1:15pm vs Kentucky Wesleyan.
Earlier this season, Walsh went 3-1 vs the Panthers, winning 4-2, 4-0, and 5-0. They fell in the 4th game 12-2.
