SLIPPERY ROCK, PA: Walsh Men's Soccer traveled to western PA to take on Slippery Rock in a match that did not go in favor of the Cavs. The Walsh offense fired at the goal 23 times but only four of their shots were on target compared to the Rock's 12, making it a busy afternoon for goalkeeper, Nick Bertolini. Despite making 8 saves, including one penalty save, his efforts were overwhelmed by the Rock's attack. Scoring opened up in the 18th minute, followed by second half goals in the 57th and 62nd minutes. Stefan Velickovic scored in the 67th minute for the Cavs off an assist from Kostas Paxos in an effort to spearhead a late Cavs comeback, but a late Rock goal in the 85th minute closed out the game with a 4-1 scoreline in favor of Slippery Rock. The Cavs will hope to bounce back in their final non conference game on Saturday, September 13th, at 2 P.M. They will travel to Hammond, Indiana to take on Purdue University Northwest.
