HAMMOND, IN: The Maroon and Gold traveled to Hammond, Indiana for their final non-conference match against Purdue Northwest. It was a close match for the duration of the contest with each side matching up relatively equal. However, Purdue Northwest opened up scoring in the 12th minute followed by a second goal in the 24th minute to take an early 2-0 lead. Senior, Oriol Fallada, cut the deficit for the Cavs, with a goal in the 33rd minute off an assist from classmate Alvaro Gidron, giving the Cavs momentum going into halftime. The Cavs fought hard to overturn the deficit and come away with the win firing 11 shots at Purdue Northwest, but a late goal in the 73rd minute gave Purdue Northwest a decisive 3-1. Nick Bertolini made 4 saves throughout the match and Stefan Velickovic had 5 shots for the Maroon and Gold. The Cavs return to Larry Staudt Field to open conference play on Thursday, September 18th, at 7:30 P.M. when they welcome the Ohio Dominican Panthers.
