WOMEN'S SOCCER HOSTS 2 GLIAC OPPONENTS AT HOME

NORTH CANTON, OH: The Cavaliers of Walsh Women's Soccer hosted two teams from Michigan this weekend. Saginaw Valley State and Ferris State visited North Canton, in the final weekend of non-conference play. Friday's home opener was tough for the Cavs as they fell to SVSU, 6-0. The Maroon and Gold found themselves down 4-0 going into half. Although the Cavs fought to get back into the match, by firing 8 shots, two quick goals from SVSU to start the final 45 min was difficult to overcome. Maddie Schweiger led the offensive charge with 3 shots while O'Malley Quinlan made 5 saves throughout the match.

On Sunday, against Ferris, the Maroon and Gold salvaged the opening weekend, drawing 2-2, in a contest that went down to the very last whistle. The Bulldogs opened up scoring in the 9th minute, but Paityn Marino got one back for the Cavs in the 40th minute on a cross from Carli Miller and Audrey Johnson to level the score going into halftime. In the second half, the Bulldogs struck first again in the 64th minute taking a 2-1 lead over the Cavs. Just under 10 minutes later, Kate Young equalized for the Cavs in the 73rd minute to make it 2-2, where the score would stand for the remainder of the game. Goalkeeper O'Malley Quinlan made 7 saves in between the sticks and Paityn Marino and Jamie Duskey each had 3 shots.

The Maroon and Gold open up conference play on Thursday, September 18th, at 5 P.M. when they welcome the Ohio Dominican Panthers to Larry Staudt Field for Taylor Ceepo Night.
