Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL IS DEFEATED BY CEDARVILLE AND ASHLAND

CEDARVILLE AND NORTH CANTON, OH: The Walsh Women's Basketball team suffered two losses last week; one on the road and one inside Alumni Arena. These two contests ended the busy week where Walsh played four games in seven days. The Cavaliers are now 8-8 after starting 8-2 on the season.

Against Cedarville, the Women started slow, digging themselves into an 18-7 deficit. The script was soon flipped as the Maroon and Gold got back in the contest, outscoring the Yellow Jackets, 20-5. The third quarter evened out with Walsh holding the lead most of the way. The Cavs held control for most of the final period up until the last minute where Cedarville clawed back into the game and eventually took back the lead. As the clock ticked to 0, Walsh never scored and Cedarville made four free throws to seal the win.

The Women finally returned home on Saturday, welcoming the Ashland University Eagles. Both teams came out firing in an even match up. 32 total points were scored in quarter one, with the score knotted up at 16 all. The Eagles took flight when the clock reset as they dominated the second quarter, 26-7. Walsh went into the halftime break down 19 points. The deficit was eventually too big to overcome as the Cavs only got as close as 8 points in the second half.

The Maroon and Gold will hopefully take advantage of the week off and regroup for the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers, at home, on Saturday.
