CANTON, OH: Rivalry games are always tough. Today was no different as Walsh and Malone's Women's Basketball teams duked it out in Osborne Hall. The Cavs came in on a two game winning streak and looked upset the Pioneers who had 14 wins on their resume so far this season.
Things were physical from the opening tip off and the experience of the Pioneers showed from the get go. Malone shot 46.7% from the floor in the opening period giving them the advantage for the entirety of the contest. The high shooting percentage helped Malone earn a nine point lead after one quarter, the main difference in the game.
The Walsh Women played hard and competed, hanging around the 7-10 point deficit for most of the game. Tough shooting behind the arc and the length of the Pioneers were main factors in the defeat. Walsh was out rebounded, 43-29.
The Cavaliers will return home on Thursday when they welcome the Thomas More Saints to Alumni Arena. Tip off is set for 5pm.

- Kiley Dyrlund led the team in scoring with 15 points. She also had 9 rebounds and 5 steals.
- Sydney Ludvigsen added 13 points while Carlota Lopez added 12. Lopez also had 5 assists.
- The Walsh bench was outscored 35-3.
