NORTH CANTON, OH: Walsh University is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Coach Jim Dennison, who led the Walsh Cavalier football program from its inception in 1995 through his retirement in 2013. A legendary coach and mentor, Dennison led the team for 18 seasons, guiding the Cavaliers to 14 winning seasons and 119 victories. Dennison was also the Walsh Athletic Director from 1993-2007.Â
Known for his unwavering faith in his players, Coach Dennison built more than a team—he built a culture rooted in perseverance, integrity, and a "Positive Mental Attitude." The importance of goal-setting, life-preparation and a positive mental attitude became the foundation upon which the Walsh football program was built. His leadership both on and off the field laid the foundation for Walsh's successful transition into NCAA Division II competition.
Beyond his record of success, Coach Dennison will be remembered for the countless student-athletes he inspired to find purpose, lead with heart, and pursue excellence in all they do. His legacy remains deeply woven into the fabric of Walsh University.
