Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

MAROON AND GOLD EARN IMPORTANT ROAD WIN

CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY: Thursday night was an exciting one for the Walsh Women's Basketball program as they downed the 19-3 Thomas More Saints. In what could be the signature win for the Cavs this season, they moved to 13 wins which is the most victories in a season in the past three years. The victory in Crestview Hills was also key as the postseason is arriving very soon. The Cavaliers continue to separate themselves from the rest of the G-MAC holding firm in the 8th playoff spot. As the season marches on, the Women have potential to move up in the conference standing.

After previously losing to Thomas More a few weeks back, 66-46, the Women used balanced scoring to get tonight's 81-77 win. A strong 4th quarter that saw 23 Walsh points was also key.

In a game of waves, the Cavs would be up by 6 and then down by 6 in a matter of minutes. Winning looked impossible at the 5:45 mark of the fourth quarter when the Maroon and Gold got behind by 10, 72-62. A 7-0 run in 90 seconds put the pressure on the Saints going down the stretch. The Cavaliers took the lead with 1:56 left and made key shots to secure the important win. Emma Dretke's two free throws with one second to pay sealed it for the Maroon and Gold.

The Women will have another tough test on Saturday as they face the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers at 1pm in Owensboro, KY.
