Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SWEEPS KENTUCKY WESLEYAN FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2022

OWENSBORO, KY: Cavalier Women's Basketball added to their 2025-2026 resume Saturday afternoon as they picked up another strong win. For the first time since the 2021-2022 season, the Maroon and Gold swept the Panthers for the season. In January, Walsh won 64-38. Today, the game was a bit closer, with Walsh coming out on top, 78-71.

The Women controlled the contest most of the afternoon. With a balanced offensive attack, from the inside, and beyond the arc, the Cavaliers have been scoring. 3 Cavs had 18 or more points. The Women also made 12 threes, shooting 48% from beyond the arc.

Kentucky Wesleyan did not go away easy despite the Walsh control. A Cavalier 10 point lead would be cut to just 3 points by the end of the third. The Women lost their lead at the 7:07 mark of the 4th but quickly took the reins back with key buckets from Kiley Dyrlund, Emma Dretke, and Carlota Lopez. In an up and down, fast paced battle down the stretch, the Maroon and Gold persevered taking care of the ball and making free throws.

With the win, the Cavaliers moved one spot in the G-MAC rankings. With three games remaining, Walsh sits at 14-11 and 10-7 in the conference.

The next game will be at home, on Thursday. Tip off is set for 5:30pm. Wear pink for free admission to support breast cancer and National Girls and Women in Sports Day!
