FROSTBURG, MD AND NORTH CANTON, OH: The Walsh Men's Lacrosse team now has four games underway this season, most recently, a win on Wednesday morning. Last weekend in Frostburg, the Cavs faced two top teams in the reigning National Champions and #1 ranked, Adelphi and St. Michael's. The two opponents handed the Maroon and Gold two losses on the road.
Early season injuries have caused the Cavs to move the line up multiple times but on Wednesday morning, things seemed to click. The Men earned a gritty win over the Robert Wesleyan University Redhawks, 12-10. In the win, Walsh started the scoring three minutes into the game. The Redhawks then scored two quick goals, putting the Cavs on their heels after one quarter. By 9:49 in the second quarter, the game was tied with the Redhawks then taking a two goal lead, 6-4.
As the contest moved to the second half, the cat and mouse game continued with one team scoring and the other responding. The game came down to the final five minutes where four goals were scored. Crucial penalties by the visitors gave the Cavs opportunities in which they took advantage. Two man up goals with just about two minutes to play sealed the win for the home team.
Walsh will return to Larry Staudt Field on Saturday, vs Frostburg, at 1pm.
