ASHLAND, OH: The Walsh Women's Basketball team didn't just win on Thursday evening, they absolutely dominated the Ashland Eagles. The 11 point victory had huge implications as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament is right around the corner.
Previously, the Cavs fell to the Eagles 74-63 in January but since then the Women have been hot. Currently on a four game win streak, the Cavaliers have shot up in the G-MAC standings. Officially holding the tiebreaker for the fourth seed, Walsh holds a strong chance for a for hosting a first round playoff game.
Thursday evening showed a display of grit and resilience for the Walsh Women as buckets were at a premium through the first quarter. Quickly, the Cavs took control outscoring the Eagles 20-7 in the second quarter. The quarter included three made threes, giving Walsh a 13 point lead at the break.
The Women kept up their hot shooting and tough defense in the third quarter, outpacing Ashland once again 24-20. A three by
Sydney Ludvigsen to end the quarter gave the Maroon and Gold all the momentum they needed to finish the game.
Up by as much as 24 points, Ashland did their best to come back, making small runs in the bottom part of the final quarter. Four points by
Emma Dretke helped secure the win, making key buckets down the stretch.
The win over the Eagles is the programs first since March of 2022 in the NCAA Tournament.
The regular season will wrap up for the Cavaliers on Saturday at the Mayor's Cup vs Malone. Tip off is set of 1pm.

- Walsh held the lead since the 3 minute mark of the 1st quarter.
- Kiley Dyrlund led the team with 18 points. She added 9 rebounds and 3 steals.
- Sydney Ludvigsen made four 3's on her way to 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.
- Carlota Lopez added 14 points.
- Sami Kim led all rebounders hauling in 12. She also added 5 assists.
