NORTH CANTON, OH: Cavalier Tennis got their spring season underway this past weekend at the North Canton Racquet Club. The Men went 2-0, defeating Daemen and Edinboro. The Women went 1-1, defeating Edinboro but falling to Indiana University of Pennsylvania.Â
The Men's team started off first, on Friday, showing standout performances against Daemen University, winning 7-0. After claiming all three doubles, the Cavaliers kept the momentum going winning all six of the opening singles games. Lukas Kohler entered his Senior year with a tough but remarkable 3 sets win:  4/6, 6/4, 10/6. Kian Balali did not lose a single game securing his won: 6/0, 6/0.
On Saturday, both Men's and Women's team competed against Edinboro University with a competitive focus throughout singles and doubles play.Leading the way for the Maroon and Gold, on the Men's side, was Nicolas Stroehle who went undefeated at #3 in singles (3/6, 7/6(5)) and in doubles with Ben Hoffman, demonstrating a positive energy and controlled performance.Liv-Grete Laarman remained calm and consistent in singles at #5, winning 6/1, 6/2. Lina Starke, Aleksandra Chmir also came out victorious for Walsh. Both Cavalier squads earned 5–2 wins that day.
To wrap up the weekend, Women's Tennis faced a strong test against IUP - who is ranked #2 in the Atlantic Region. Walsh almost secured doubles point with a great performance from #2 doubles Lina Starke and Aleksandra Chmir: 7/6(4). Taira Abildayeva, in a test of endurance, outlasted their opponent in three sets at #1: 6/3, 2/6, 7/6(1). Olesya and Lina fought to the final set in a competitive three-set loss demonstrating high-level of tennis. The Cavs would be defeated, 6-1.Â
