HILLSDALE, MI: Walsh Men's Tennis got their fall schedule underway this past weekend at the Hillsdale Charger Invite.
Ross Trias, reigning G-MAC Player and Freshman of the Year, and the rest of the Maroon and Gold had strong showings in the season opening play. Other teams competing this weekend included Hillsdale, Ashland, and Lawrence Tech. . The Cavs put in a strong performance as it welcomed many new faces to the roster.
In "A" singles flight, Ross Trias, lost only two games in reaching the final where he defeated Zenteny Paragi from Hillsdale 6-4, 6-2.
In "B" singles flight Walsh senior, Joan Dasi, advanced to the final to play Walsh freshman, Jan Garcia Barrera. The two finalist being from the same team elected not to play the final.
In "C" singles flight Walsh senior, Fedor Kuznetsov, advanced to the final to play Walsh freshman, Elijah Corrin. The two finalist being from the same team elected not to play the final.
In "D" singles flight Walsh freshmen, Max Peinado Esteban and Tomme Laarmann, both won their quarterfinal matches before falling in tough matches in the semifinals.
In "A" doubles flight Ross Trias and Joan Dasi advanced to the finals to play the Walsh freshmen duo, Ricard Lazaro Farres and Jan Garcia Barrera. The two finalist being from the same team elected not to play the final.
In "B" doubles flight Fedor Kuznetsov and Elijah Corrin won the "B" consolation final defeating teammates, Max Peinado Esteban and Tomme Laarmann 6-3.
The Men will return to the courts on Friday, September 25th, at 1pm as they take on the University of Charleston.Â
