TIFFIN, PAINESVILLE, AND NORTH CANTON, OH: Cav Men's Lacrosse is officially halfway through their season. The Cavs currently sit at 4-6 overall and 3-2 in Great Midwest play. Most recently the team went 2-1 earning wins over Tiffin and Lake Erie, and falling to Davenport.
In the wins, the Men were firing on all cylinders scoring 30 goals total and holding the opponents to 12 goals total.
The Cavs have a big home stand this week as they host the University of Indianapolis on Wednesday and Davis & Elkins on Saturday.
VS TIFFIN, SCORE: WU 17 - TU 5
- Walsh took a commanding 7-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
- The defense allowed no more than 2 goals in the final 3 quarters.
- Garrett Kessling led with 5 points on 2 goals and 3 assists.
- Parker Stanway had 3 goals while AJ Harrison and Ty Pilkington added 3 points. Harrison had 4 caused turnovers.
- Dylan Castiglia was 11-19 on face offs with 8 ground balls.
- Austin England only allowed 3 goals on 14 saves.
VS LAKE ERIE, SCORE: WU 13 - LEC 7
- Despite a close first quarter, the Maroon and Gold separated themselves scoring 5 goals in the 2nd quarter.
- Walsh dominated on face offs, winning 19 to LEC's 4.
- AJ Harrison (2/2) and Holton Marshall (4) paced Walsh with 4 points each.
- Maguire Smith and Dylan Castiglia scooped 8 ground balls each. Castiglia was 19-22 on face offs.
VS DAVENPORT, SCORE: DU 10 - WU 7
- In a close match up, Walsh saw their only lead at the 12:10 mark of the 2nd quarter.
- Davenport scored 2 goals late in the 2nd quarter to steal the momentum for the duration of the contest.
- Down 3 in the 4th, Ty Pilkington scored to cut the deficit to 2 goals with 4:17 to go but Davenport returned the goal and held Walsh.
- Ty Pilkington led the team with 3 points on 2 goals and an assist.
- Maguire Smith scooped 5 ground balls and caused 3 turnovers.
