PAINESVILLE, OH: Walsh Baseball earned a series win over the Lake Erie College Storm this weekend. With a strong offensive performance from Senior, Right Fielder,
Josh Algarin and a key pitching performance by
Hayden Hrach, the team took three of the four road games. The Maroon and Gold move to 11-14 overall and 6-6 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
South Division play starts this week as Walsh will travel to Munson Stadium on Thursday, April 2nd. The series vs Malone will be split up due to the Easter holiday. The series is scheduled to conclude on April 7th. Entering divisional play, the Cavs are tied for first with Ohio Dominican.
GAME 1, SCORE: WU 15 - LEC 8
- With a score of 5-5 after four innings, Walsh pulled away from the Storm starting in the 5th inning. In the final 5 innings, the Cavs outscored Lake Erie 10-3.
- Bryce Broom and Mason Stoldt each had 3 RBI's. They each had 3 hits.
- Josh Algarin led the team going 4 for 6.
- Brodey Acres and Eli Sutton each walked 3 times.
- Chuck Hess earned the win while Lucas Palange got the save. Palange struck out 4 and walked 0 in his 3 innings.
GAME 2, SCORE: WU 4 - LEC 3
- A 4 run third inning gave Walsh the edge for most of the game. Lake Erie scored 3 in the final two innings and had runners in scoring position to walk it off in the bottom of the 7th. Marshall Shepherd walked two batters before getting two fly outs to secure the win.
- Chris Kramer and Mason Stoldt had the lone two hits for Walsh. Stoldt's hit was a home run.
GAME 3, SCORE: LEC 14 - WU 6
GAME 4, SCORE: WU 10 - LEC 1
- Hayden Hrach scattered 2 hits in 7 innings while striking out 7 in his first win of the season. He had a no hitter going through 5 innings.
- Josh Algarin was 4 for 5 with a double and a triple.
- Devon Morris was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI's.
- Brody Acres walked 4 times.
