Box Score 4 CANTON, OH: It was a good few days of Baseball for the Walsh Cavaliers as they swept the Malone Pioneers at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium. The 4 game series, broken up due to Easter and weather, was played across six days. The team has now won five straight, scoring 10+ runs in 4 of the 5 wins.
Chris Kramer earned G-MAC South Division Player of the Week with his performance in games one and two. He went 5-9 with seven RBI's. His five hits included a pair of doubles and a home run. Kramer also stole one base during the week. In games 3 and 4, the Cavs were led by
Brodey Acres. He went 5-9 with four RBI's, 2 doubles, and a triple.
Walsh is now 15-14, 10-6 in the G-MAC. Thomas More will visit Biery Stadium this weekend for a Saturday/Sunday series. Saturday's first pitch is set for 1pm.
GAME 1, SCORE: WU 10 - MU 5
- The Cavs started the game hot taking a 5-0 lead through 2.5 innings.
- With a lead of 5-3 heading to the 8th, 5 total runs in the final two innings secured the Walsh win.
- Brodey Acres was 3-4 with 2 RBI's. He had a double and a home run.
- Chris Kramer was 2-5 with 2 RBI's and a double.
- Ryan Chambers earned the win while Chuck Hess and Marshall Shepherd finished the game on the mound.
GAME 2, SCORE: WU 10 - MU 4
- Walsh built a 7-1 lead through 4.5 innings.
- Nick Petro earned the win going 4 innings, striking out 5, and only allowing 1 run.
- Noah Sample struck out 3 and earned a save.
- Chris Kramer was 3-4 with 5 RBI's, a double, a home run, and a stolen base.
- Brandon Hire had 2 hits.
GAME 3, SCORE: WU 13 - MU 6
- A 5 run 2nd inning and 6 run 4th inning helped the Cavs take the game 3 win.
- Chuck Hess pitched 2 innings in relief, striking out 5.
- Eli Sutton, Brandon Hire, and Brodey Acres were 3 for 4 with Sutton having 5 RBI's and Acres having 4.
GAME 4, SCORE: WU 8 - MU 7
- Malone opened the game scoring 4 runs but the Cavs slowly chipped away, taking a 7-5 lead into the 6th inning.
- In the 7th, A Mason Stoldt home run got the Cavs to 8 runs but the Pioneers scored 2 in the bottom of the 7th to close the gap.
- Marshall Shepherd got Malone to ground out twice and pop out to earn the save and complete the sweep.
- Josh Algarin was 3-4 with 3 RBI's.
- Stoldt and Brodey Acres each had 2 hits.
