NORTH CANTON, OH: The #1 seeded and 14th ranked team in the country, the Walsh Cavaliers Men's Basketball program earn their way to the G-MAC Semifinal Tuesday night. Walsh throttled the Hillsdale Chargers, 76-49.
It was never much of a contest as the Cavs capitalized on both ends of the floor right from the tip off. The Men outscored Hillsdale, 35-18 through the first 20 minutes. In that half, Walsh shot 48.3% from the floor and then increased that percentage to 55.6% in the final 20 minutes.
The Maroon and Gold went on an 11-0 run around the halfway point of the first half, killing any Charger dreams of a March upset. The Cavs led by as much as 30 in the game.
Walsh will now advance to the Great Midwest Semifinals and face the 5th seeded University of Findlay on Friday night. Tip off is set for 5pm inside Alumni Arena.
In the regular season, the Cavs defeated the Oilers twice in December, with scores of 103-98 (OT) and 77-68.
