NORTH CANTON, OH: The top-seeded Walsh Cavaliers are heading to the Great Midwest Conference Championship following an 87-77 win over the No. 5 seed Findlay Oilers. The Cavaliers went wire-to-wire with the Oilers with four lead changes throughout the contest. Kobe Mitchell was on fire from three, going 7-11 on the day and ending with a game-high 25 points. Mitchell was joined by teammates Matthew Biddell and Kaleb Schaffer who chipped in 16 points apiece.
Walsh shot 50.9% from the field, going 29-57 on the day. Jadi Cunningham, who was credited with three steals,led a defensive effort that forced the Oilers to 14 turnovers.
Up by six at the half, the Maroon and Gold went on 13-0 run before Findlay's Anthony Johnson found a bucket to make the score 53-42. Walsh maintained a steady lead to finish the game 87-77.
Head Coach Jeff Young and the Cavaliers will head to the G-MAC Championship finale for the second time in three years. Walsh is set to play #2 Lake Erie at 3 P.M. ET tomorrow in Alumni Arena.
