CAVALIERS TAKE 3 FROM THOMAS MORE IN SOUTH DIVISION PLAY

NORTH CANTON, OH: Walsh Cavalier Baseball won their third straight series this past weekend when they welcomed the Thomas More University Saints to Biery Stadium. In the second South Division series of the season, the men came off two weekday road wins vs Malone and continued their momentum vs the Saints. The Cavs scored a consistent eight runs in 3 of the 4 games including an extra inning walk off in game 3. Senior, Catcher, Eli Sutton earned Great Midwest Athlete of the Week as he had a strong week in the batters box, helping Walsh go 5-1 in the week. 

After the series win, on April 14th, the Men returned to the diamond for a non-conference game against Slippery Rock University. Despite a 2 hour rain delay, the game got played with the Cavaliers falling, 10-8. 

Walsh will play their final road series of the regular season this Friday and Sunday at Ohio Dominican. First pitch both days will be at 1pm.

GAME 1 VS THOMAS MORE, SCORE: WU 8 - TMU 1
  • The Cavs broke the game open in the bottom of the 6th as they scored 5 runs. 
  • Ryan Chambers earned the win scattering 5 hits and 1 run in 8 innings. He struck out 6. 
  • Eli Sutton had 5 RBI's and was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs. 
  • Brandon Hire, Brodey Acres, and Josh Algarin each had 2 hits. Algarin had a home run and a double, Acres had 2 doubles, Hire had 1 double. 
GAME 2 VS THOMAS MORE, SCORE: WU 8 - TMU 4 GAME 3 VS THOMAS MORE, SCORE: WU 8 - TMU 7 (EXTRAS)
  • Down 6-5 in the bottom of the 7th, Mason Stoldt had a solo home run to force the game to extra innings. After Thomas More crossing over one run in the top of the 8th, a sac fly from Brodey Acres and a Mason Stoldt single lifted the Cavs to secure the series. 
  • Stoldt had 3 RBI's going 2 for 3. 
  • Brodey Acres and Josh Algarin also had 2 hits. 
  • Eli Sutton was walked twice. 
  • Zach Barber earned the win moving to 1-1. 
GAME 4 VS THOMAS MORE, SCORE: TMU 6 - WALSH 2 (EXTRAS)
  • Thomas More's pitcher had a no hitter through 6.2 innings. 
  • Brandon Hire forced extras with a single in the bottom of the 7th. 
  • Heading to extras, 1-1, the Saints scored 5 in the top of the 8th. 
  • Chris Kramer, Bryce Broom, and Brandon Hire had the 3 total hits for Walsh. 
  • Sam Yoder started for Walsh and went 5.1 innings, scattering 3 hits and allowing 1 run. 
  • Chuck Hess came in, in relief, going 1.2 innings with just 1 hits and no walks. 
VS SLIPPERY ROCK, SCORE: SRU 10 - WU 8
  • A 6 run 5th inning for Slippery Rock was the main difference maker in the loss. 
  • Mason Stoldt had 2 home runs and 4 RBI's going 3 for 5. 
  • Brandon Hire walked twice. 
  • In two innings pitched, Nathan Krayzel struck out 3 and allowed just 2 hits.
