MAROON AND GOLD BEAT ODU IN G-MAC OPENING PLAY

NORTH CANTON, OH: Walsh Women's Soccer opened conference play with a 2-0 victory over Ohio Dominican on Thursday night. The Cavaliers scored twice in less than two minutes during the first half, to give Walsh the edge.

Walsh got on the board in the 14th minute when Paityn Marino scored off an assist from Katie Norris, putting the Cavaliers ahead 1-0. Just over a minute later, Kailey Hobart added another goal after receiving an assist from Ramsey Smith, extending the Walsh lead to 2-0.

The Cavaliers carried the two-goal advantage into halftime after controlling much of the opening half. Walsh recorded seven shots and six corner kicks in the first 45 minutes, while goalkeeper O'Malley Quinlan made three saves to keep Ohio Dominican off the board.

Walsh continued to create opportunities in the second half while protecting its lead. Smith put a shot on goal in the 61st minute, and Hobart followed with another shot on target later in the half. Ohio Dominican looked to cut into the lead late, but Quinlan and the Cavalier defense held strong to complete the shutout.

Walsh finished the match with a 10-7 advantage in shots and a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks. The Cavaliers put five shots on goal, while Quinlan stopped all four shots she faced to secure the clean sheet.
