Walsh and Tiffin have had a history of playing close games, and after the first half of play, that trend appeared to be intact. The Cavs appeared to create some separation after they went up by seven on a few occasions early on, but the Dragons kept it close and cut their deficit to 35-34 after an Ashton Khan jumper with 14 seconds left in the half.
It was the closest Tiffin could get as Jesse Hardin Jr. (6-2, Jr., Warren, OH/Harding) had control of the ball for the last shot of the half and made it count with a trey from just left of the point to give Walsh a 38-34 lead at the break.
From there on out, Walsh controlled much of the game and led by double digits for the majority of the second half. The Cavs' largest lead came after Rian Burrell (6-3, Jr., Zanesville, OH/HS) his third 3-pointer of the game to make the score 73-56 with 2:27 to go.
The Cavaliers shot exceptionally well from behind the arc with a 57.9 percent clip with 11 of 19 attempts made. They shot 55.3 percent for the game as 26 shots were made in 47 tries.
Hardin Jr. was the game's top scorer with 19 points on 6-of-10 from the field which included four 3-pointers.Burrell finished with 15 points off the bench as he too was 6-of-10 from the field. High school teammates Zac Carter (5-9, So., Ironton, OH/HS) and Trey Fletcher (6-6, So., Ironton, OH/HS) both scored 12 points in the win. Carter also handed out a game and career-high seven assists.
