Box Score (ASHLAND, Ohio) - It was a tough night on the road as Walsh fell to Ashland 90-62 in GLIAC South Division action Thursday evening. The Eagles (15-6, 11-4) led from start to finish and took advantage of a poor shooting night for the Cavaliers (14-7, 8-7).
The Cavs battled close for the first five minutes and trailed 9-7 after a Whitney Dabbelt (6-0, Sr., West Carrollton, OH/Archbishop Alter) jumper, but then the Eagles went on a 21-2 run to inundate Walsh. The Maroon and Gold couldn't recover and trailed 41-19 going into halftime.
Ashland controlled nearly all facets of the game and dominated the Cavs inside and outscored them 52-20 in the paint. It also showed in the rebounding differential as the Eagles held that advantage as well 50-38.
Offensively Walsh had a cold night and made 31.3 percent of its shots on 21-of-67 from the field. In the mean time, Ashland was strong across the court and made over half of its shots with a 51.4 percent clip.
Only two Cavs scored in double figures as Rachael Trujillo (5-8, Jr., Cleveland, OH/Westlake) scored 11 points off of the bench. She also pulled down five rebounds, four on the offensive end, and made a season-high six steals in the game. Dabbelt added 10 markers to tie her season-best.
The Eagles were led by the strong duo of Laina Snyder and Taylor Woods. Both scored 21 points and Snyder picked up a double-double with 11 rebounds.
Walsh will attempt to regroup and break its three-game losing streak when it hosts Lake Erie on Saturday. The Cavs are set to tip-off with the Storm at 1 p.m.
