Box Score 2 (MIDLAND, Mich.) Walsh (15-17, 8-10) stumbled through a lost weekend at Northwood University (21-13, 14-4) dropping back-to-to back GLIAC double headers on consecutive days. After falling 2-0 in the opener, the Cavs dropped a 7-2 decision in game two. The Cavs, who have lost seven of their last eight games, look to right the ship when they host rival Malone University in a GLIAC twinbill on Wednesday at 1 pm.
Northwood scored two unearned runs to win the opener. Cavs right-hander Jared Bettura (Sr., Canfield, OH / HS) was the tough luck loser. Bettura is now 3-3. The Timberwolves scored single runs in the third and fifth innings. The Cavs were held to four hits.
The Timberwolves scored twice in the first inning of the nightcap, but Walsh rallied to tie the game with single runs in the second and fourth innings. Northwood, however, came right back to regain the lead with a single run in the bottom of the fourth. They would put the game out of reach with three runs in the sixth inning and a single run in the eighth. Danny Roper (Sr., Cincinnati, OH / Princeton) started and was tagged with the loss to fall to 0-2. Luke Caple (So., Naple, FL / Gulf Coast) and Jordan Shank (Sr., Canton, OH / GlenOak) each had two hits.
