Men's Tennis Defeats Daemen to End Fall Season

(CANTON, Ohio) – In a men's and women's twin bill with former conference foe Daemen, the Walsh scored an impressive 8-1 victory at Weis Park on Tuesday. It was the final match of the fall season for both the Cavaliers (5-1) and Wildcats (1-5).

The Maroon and Gold took the early lead with a sweep of doubles play. Ross Whittaker and Felix Zimmerman made short work of the Daemen duo of Justin Milner and Mark Veitengruber 8-3 at first doubles. Vasily Vidmanov and Rodrigo Garcia defeated Andrew LeMar and Fabian Wilde 8-5 at second doubles. Jonah Carter and Tim Bruin completed the sweep with a 9-7 win over D. Gonzalez Villegas and John LeMar 9-7 at third doubles.

Whittaker also had a quick match in singles play as he defeated Wilde 6-0, 6-1 in second singles. Zimmerman also had a quick match with a pair of 6-2 sets over Veitengruber at third singles.

Vidmanov defeated Gonzalez 7-5, 6-2 at first singles. Garcia needed a tiebreaker at fourth singles to defeat Milner, but did so 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-3). Heitor Adegas provided the remaining points with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Andrew LeMar at fifth singles.

The Cavs will take the rest of the semester off and won't return to action until February when they host future G-MAC rival Davis & Elkins.
