(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh remains in a tie for second place overall in the GLIAC after 78-53 victory over Findlay on Senior Night at Alumni Arena on Thursday evening. The Cavaliers (18-7, 15-5) are now tied with Saginaw Valley State and Michigan Tech for the No. 2 spot. The Oilers' (15-11, 10-10) remain in playoff contention, but are a game out of eighth place.
Outside shooting helped the Cavs take an early lead as four different players hit 3-pointers. Walsh hit nine of its 11 triples in the first half and never trailed in the game. Overall the Cavs shot a season-high 61.1 percent from behind the arc.
The Cavs steadily increased their lead over Findlay throughout the game as they outscored the visitors in every quarter.
Walsh also benefited from a balanced offense that saw five players score in double-figures, the most for a game this season. Brooklyn Wooten (Jr., Grove City, Ohio/Central Crossing) led the charge with 15 points off the bench. She was 5-of-8, dished out five assists, and pulled down four rebounds in the win.
Kelsey Funderburgh (Sr., North Lewisburg, Ohio/Triad) enjoyed her last regular season home game with 14 points and was 5-of-8 from the field as well with a pair of 3-pointers. Alex Hochstedler (So., Fishers, Ind./Fishers) scored 12, Allison Butler (So., Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Luers) tallied 11, and Jalynn Graham poured in 10. Butler was responsible for three of the Cavs' 3-pointers as she was 4-of-6 from the field.
Defensively Walsh had one of its finest games all year as the Cavs forced 21 Findlay turnovers which translated to 34 points. The Cavs also proved to be a force inside the paint as Walsh outscored the Oilers 30-18 down low.
The Cavs now hit the road for their final two regular season games. First up will be a trip to the Motor City as Walsh takes on Wayne State on Saturday. Tip-off with the Warriors is set for 1 p.m.
