Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

(WESTFIELD, Ind.) – It was a rough day for the Walsh as it fell to No. 18 Missouri-St. Louis and St. Joseph's in the Midwest Regional Crossover Baseball Showcase on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers (8-11) fell to the Tritons (11-2) by a score of 4-0 before they were defeated by the Pumas (7-9) 4-1.

Three of the four Triton runs were scored in the fifth inning of the opening game. All three were unearned after the first was scored as a result of an error. A two-RBI double down the right field line two batters later brought in the other runs for UMSL. An insurance run was added in the top of the eighth on a triple.

Walsh's best chance to score came in the sixth inning when Tyson Lautanen doubled down the left field line and advanced Jason McPeek to third base, but both runners were left stranded on base.

Brandon Whitslar started the game for the Cavs and was dealt the loss to fall to 1-2 on the year. He gave up three unearned runs on six hits with five strikeouts against one walk in 6.1 innings of work. Joe Pourier came on in relief and struck out a pair in the final 2.2.

In the rematch with St. Joseph's, the Pumas scored two in each of the first two innings to take a quick 4-0 lead.

Walsh's lone run came in the top of the fourth as Brook Clark brought in Austin Szink on a ground out to third base. Szink started off the inning with a double down the left field line and advanced to third on a ground out to short stop.

Seth Robinson took the loss in Game 2 to fall to 2-2 on the year. He too struck out five and only one of the four runs scored was earned as he went 5.2 innings. Frank Frate came on in relief and allowed just two hits the rest of the way.

The Cavaliers will wrap up the inaugural Midwest Regional Crossover Baseball Showcase against future conference rival Alderson Broaddus at 1:30 p.m.
