Cavaliers Sack Cedarville 7-2

(CEDARVILLE, Ohio) – In a match between former and future conference rivals, Walsh easily handled Cedarville by a score of 7-2 in men's tennis action Tuesday afternoon. The Cavaliers evened up their season once again at 9-9 while the Yellow Jackets dropped to 11-6.

The Maroon and Gold took the early advantage with two wins in the doubles portion. Pablo Cabezon and Carlos Jaque took an 8-6 win over Ryan Shomo and Joel Clark at No. 2 doubles for Walsh's first point that tied the match. Jonah Carter and Tim Bruin capped the doubles portion over Luke Ingles and David Carter at third doubles with an 8-6 margin as well.

In singles action, Walsh dominated with wins in five of the six contests. Jaque scored the first point with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Ingles at No. 4 singles to go perfect on the day. Heitor Adegas followed with a  6-2, 6-1 win over Carter at the sixth spot. Cabezon secured the win at No. 3 singles with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Clark.

Ross Whittaker and Rodrigo Garcia added the other points for the Cavaliers. Whittaker defeated Shomo 7-5, 6-4 at No. 2 singles before Garcia ended the match with a 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 victory at the fifth spot.

Walsh returns to conference action this weekend on the road starting with Hillsdale on Saturday.
