Box Score (COLUMBUS, Ohio) – A late rally in the ninth wasn't enough for Walsh to overcome Ohio Dominican as it lost 6-3 in the final game of the series at Panther Valley Sunday afternoon. The Cavaliers (23-21, 14-10, 11-7) took the overall series from the Panthers (19-26-1, 6-22, 4-16) with wins in the first three games on Friday and Saturday.
The hosts never trailed as they took a 3-0 lead in the second inning and added three insurance runs over the seventh and eighth frames.
Jason McPeek started the rally with a single to left and stole second before he scored on a double down the left field line by Luke Caple. Andrew Stalnaker followed with an infield single to score Tyson Lautanen who reached on a walk. The comeback stalled there as ODU retired the next three batters.
McPeek ended the day 2-for-4 with a run scored. Caple, Stalnaker, Austin Szink and Brook Clark also registered hits for the Cavaliers. Johnny Knight IV drove in the other run scored by Szink on a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning.
Seth Robinson took the loss to fall to 2-4 on the season. He gave up three runs, one earned with five strikeouts on the day.
The Cavs return to action in a midweek make-up twin bill at Lake Erie this Wednesday. First pitch with the Storm is scheduled for noon.
