Men's Tennis Falls at Carnegie Mellon

(MONROEVILLE, Pa.) – The Walsh men's tennis team fell in a non-conference match by a score of 8-1 to Carnegie Mellon just outside the Steel City today. The Cavaliers (6-2) dropped their first contest of the calendar year, while the Tartans improved to 4-2.

The lone point for the Cavaliers came at No. 1 singles as Vasily Vidmanov took down Daniel Levine in a thriller. Vidmanov won the first set 7-5, but tropped the second 7-6 with a 9-7 tiebreaker. In the third set tiebreaker, Vidmanov rebounded to win 1-0 (10-3).

Vidmanov and No. 2 doubles partner Rodrigo Garcia were close to adding a second point to start the day, but the duo fell 9-7.

Walsh will be back in action a week from today as it hosts Lewis in a key regional contest. The match will be played at the Hall of Fame Courts in Canton.
