Box Score (NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – A buzzer-beating 3-pointer spoiled Senior Night for Walsh as it fell 88-85 in overtime to No. 22 Findlay to close out the season. The Cavaliers end the year at 16-11 overall and 9-11 in the GLIAC. The Oilers head to the GLIAC Tournament as the division champion with a record of 22-5 and 16-4.
Zac Carter nailed a 3-pointer with 5.7 seconds left to tie the game in over, but Findlay's Maryce Kimbrough was able to lift a shot off from the left wing and got it to fall as time expired.
Despite the loss, Carter and fellow Ironton native and senior Trey Fletcher once again had superb games as they closed out their stellar careers with Walsh. Fletcher scored a game-high 34 points as he was 13-of-25 from the field and 5-of-9 from 3-point range. He added six rebounds to help Walsh control the boards by a 40-36 margin.
Carter followed with 25 as he was 9-of-21 from the floor with three treys. With his 11 points in the first half, he became 10th on the all-time scoring list at Walsh as he passed J.R. Ogletree (1,524) and Todd Brown (1,517).
Fletcher finishes his career with 1,766 career points, fifth all-time with the Cavaliers.
Fellow senior Ronnie Stokes scored a layup via goaltending four minutes into the second half to help Walsh spark a 24-8 run to give the Cavs their largest lead of the night at 68-57 following a jumper by Fletcher. The run featured three consecutive 3-pointers on Walsh possessions with the first two off the hands of Jameel Moore who was the third Cavalier in double-figures with 12 points. Conner Wess accounted for the third.
Findlay was able to close the second half on an 8-0 to send it to overtime. Kimbrough led the Oilers with 28 points.
Overall Walsh had one of its better nights shooting behind the arc as it drained 13 3-pointers on the night. It's the eighth time this season that the Cavs made at least 10 and was the third-most they made for a single game on the year.
