Men's Tennis Returns To Win Column In Dominating Fashion

(ORLANDO) – The Walsh men's tennis team snapped a five-match losing streak with a dominating 8-1 win over Ave Maria in its third match of spring break Wednesday. The Cavaliers are now 7-6 on the season. The Gyrenes dropped to 1-8.

The Maroon and Gold started the day by winning two of the three doubles matches. Vasily Vidmanov and Rodrigo Garcia took an 8-3 decision at second doubles while Jonah Carter and Tim Bruin won 8-4 at thirds.

All remained perfect on the day with wins in singles action. Vidmanov won 6-2 in the first set after his opponent David Zuleta retired after going down 2-0. Garcia cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win at third singles, and Carter won 6-1, 6-0 at sixth singles.

Feliz Zimmerman won 6-4, 6-4 at second singles, Heitor Adegas won 6-2, 6-2 at fourth singles, and Jose Fernandez completed the singles sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the five spot.

Walsh will close out spring break competition with a match against Mercyhurst on Friday at 11 a.m.
