(XENIA, Ohio) – Walsh's bid for a GLIAC championship ended at the hands of top-seeded Northwood by a score of 2-1 to eliminate the Cavaliers at Grady's Field on Friday afternoon. The No. 4 Cavaliers (32-18) once again outhit their opponent today, but the Timberwolves were able to edge Walsh by a single run for fourth time this year.

It was a fantastic pitchers' duel between both starters with Hyatt Shenefield getting the nod for the Cavs. The freshman standout didn't disappoint as he went six innings and allowed both runs on just three hits.

The first run came in the second inning when Northwood's Javier Martinez hit a home run that just cleared the left field fence in front of the scoreboard. The Timberwolves added to their lead on a bases-loaded walk two innings later.

Walsh's lone run came in the eighth inning. Andrew Stalnaker provided the RBI when he singled to center field to score Marcus Bobb with two outs. Bobb originally reached with a double down the third-base line.

Shenefield was charged with the loss, his first of the season as he dropped to 5-1. Justin Hovorka pitched the final two frames in relief.

Northwood countered Ian Dimitrie who went the complete game to improve to 6-4.

Stalnaker finished the day 2-for-4. Johnny Knight IV, Tyson Lautanen and James Thomas also added hits on the day.

The Cavs will now wait on Selection Sunday to see if they qualify for the regional tournament.
