Walsh Downs Cedarville 6-3

(CEDARVILLE, Ohio) – The Walsh men's tennis team won its penultimate match of the regular season with a 6-3 victory over Cedarville at the Johnson-Murdoch Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon. The Cavaliers (9-11, 4-3) have secured a spot in the G-MAC postseason with the win against the Yellow Jackets (5-14, 1-6).

The Maroon and Gold took the early advantage by winning two of the three doubles matches to start the day. Clemens Wagner and Jonah Carter breezed through their third doubles match with an 8-1 victory over Chris Tsibouris and Ryan Cvammen, while Vasily Vidmanov and Filipp Kulynych narrowly edged Matt Brumbaugh and Jonathan Class 8-6.

Rodrigo Garcia and Guilherme Carneiro were close to making it a sweep at doubles, but the duo fell to Alex Totten and Phillip Brumbaugh 8-6.

Vidmanov needed a third set, but he went perfect on the day with a win over Totten 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 at first singles. Kulynych did the same with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Class. Carneiro rebounded from his doubles loss to win 6-0, 6-0 at sixth singles. Heitor Adegas completed the team score with a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Jeremy Hoover at the five spot.

Walsh will end the regular season tomorrow at Hillsdale before continuing onto the G-MAC Tournament.
