(MASON, Ohio) – The baseball season came to an end as Walsh fell to Kentucky Wesleyan 11-5 in the first elimination game on Friday in the G-MAC Tournament. The Cavaliers end the year at 26-23 with their third-straight postseason appearance. The Panthers improved to 30-20 before their next elimination game against Malone Friday evening.

Kentucky Wesleyan jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Walsh eventually plated a run in the sixth. Alec Debruler scored the run after a double to center. He advanced to third on a single by Spencer Helwig and traveled the final 90 on a base hit through the right site by Cobe Hutchison.

Two innings later, Brenden Spaulding and Spencer Helwig were able to score after Joey Holiga hit a pinch-hit double that hugged the left field line, but the small rally was sandwiched between a pair of three-spots by the Panthers in the eighth and ninth.

Avery Janning and Spaulding tallied the final two runs after a walk and a fielding error placed them on base before a two-out double by Debruler.

Luke Miller took the loss to fall to 3-2 on the year. He allowed four runs, but only one earned, on three hits and five walks.

Offensively the Cavs pounded out 13 hits with Debruler and Helwig both going 3-for-5. Marcus Bobb and Eric Conner both had multiple-hit games as well.

Bobb was one of the most efficient hitters of the tournament as he batted for an average of .474 with nine hits, four of which were doubles, in 19 at-bats. He scored four runs and hit in three more. Debruler also finished a strong tournament 6-for-16 from the plate for an average of .375. He hit three doubles, scored three runs, and two RBI.
