Three Performances Highlight Day One at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, North Carolina - The Walsh Cavaliers outdoor track and field team sent some representatives to the Adidas Raleigh Relays at NC State on Friday (March 29) held at the Paul Derr Track and Field Facility. 

Noah Murray, Andra Lehotay and Jacob Kernell all had key days in a meet filled with Division I runners. 

Murray shaved ten seconds off his PR as he completed the men's 5000 meter run in 14:46, finishing 19th in his section this morning. 

Kernell set a new school record and reached a D2 NCAA Provisional mark in the men's 3000 meter steeplechase as he finished in 8:59.94. He was the top D2 athlete as he finished tenth in the field. 

Lehotay ran a new PR and she also hit a NCAA D2 Provisional time in the women's 1500 meter run. She was the second best Division II athlete as she finished 14th with a time of 4:23.16. 

Brianna Coy ran the women's 5000 meter run this morning and finished 18th with a final time of 17:21.82.

Jetaiya Smith had a final time of 58.93 in the women's 400 meter dash. 

Jacob Caniford also completed the men's 5000 meter run, ending the race with a time of 15:06.76. 

Lane Knoch competed the first of two events this weekend with a time of 14.97 in the 100 meter hurdles, earning him a 12th place finish. 

The Cavaliers will compete at both NC State and Cedarville on Saturday (March 30).
